What is your full name? Majell Backhausen
How long have you been competing or partaking in your sport? Since early 2011, when I started running to and from the office.
Where do you call home? It’s a tough one and there is no ‘normal’ answer or single place at the moment. Its been a very mobile past few years. I was brought up in clouds on Red Hill, Victoria.
Favorite event or place to practice your sport? There are many to list, but its hard to go past New Zealand. It’s got so much to offer and its pretty quiet too.
What is your focus within your sport (what sub-discipline of your sport do you do most)? Why do you like that aspect the most? I really tune into the longer distances such as 100km and above, these are usually in a mountain setting too, which adds the element of remoteness and dramatic beauty which is something I love.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you while doing your sport? It is strange how you can feel fairly average at 20km and then at 150km into a race you can feel better then that 20km moment. Strange how the mind can try to trick you into feeling otherwise.
Do you have a local claim to fame (fittest, fastest, funniest, smelliest, etc.)? I am without a doubt a comedian just maturing my act for retirement.
Do you promote an annual event or are you involved in a charitable cause? Along with Clif Bar, Salomon and Suunto there are a lot of events which we support and to see them all its best to check in on the social channels!

Anything else you would like to add about yourself or your sport? I’d just like to encourage people to think of the small changes we can all make and implement to help the greater good and each community we are involved in.
